Coal Ministry Reviews Coal to Supply Power Plants
The coal stock position with the power plants of the country, particularly in Northern India, is being continuously reviewed in the Ministry of Coal. The coal dispatch has now increased to 169 rakes as on 13.10.2011,out of which 148 rakes have been supplied to power sector.
The total; dispatches are likely to further increase to around 180 rakes in the next few days, out of which an average of 145 rakes will be supplied to power sector.
North India Power Stations have been dispatched on an average 40 rakes/ day of coal during the current month and the target is to increase it to 53 rakes to meet their requirement. On 13th October alone, the supply to these stations was 56 rakes.
During the last 3 days, Badarpur TPS has been dispatched 18 rakes, Dadri TPS 21 rakes, Rihand TPS 9 rakes, Singrauli TPS 7 rakes and Unchahaar TPS 15 rakes against their daily requirement of 3.25, 5.2, 2.5, 0.8 and 4 rakes respectively.
Supply to these power stations is being further augmented. The coal stock position in other power houses of Northern States is also being watched and wherever necessary, is being increased to ensure smooth power supply in North India. The coal companies have been advised to ensure priority movement of coal to power stations.
